it's stupid because it's not true!!!!! if you shoot for the moon and miss you'll float into the endless void of space and die. you'll probably waste a whole bunch of taxpayers' research dollars too. an equivalent saying would be: "shoot for the heart. even if you'll miss, you'll perform invasive surgery on SOMETHING!"
